There is little literature on the implementation of recovery-oriented care on inpatient units. What exists lacks concrete steps by which inpatient settings might be transformed. This conversation will highlight the benefits and challenges of implementing recovery-focused treatment in inpatient settings. The authors will use their experience of recovery transformation on VA Connecticut’s inpatient unit to facilitate collaborative discussion of the philosophical and practical challenges to implementation, facilitating factors, and offer guidance to providers with a similar mission. Participants will identify opportunities and barriers at their facilities, brainstorm action steps, and discuss plans to promote the transition to recovery-oriented inpatient care.
