TED-Like Talks

Stigmatization of mental health conditions is common, stubborn, and hurts people using psychiatric rehabilitation services (PRS) in many ways:  discrimination, disrespect, demoralization, disempowerment.  Until stigma is eliminated, PRS need to help people gain skills to navigate it and protect themselves.  This 90 minute workshop will summarize practical strategies from four different resources our team has created: a staff reflection and awareness tool, a program of 4 principles staff can use to help clients/members resist stigma’s harmful effects, a psychosocial education group for reducing internalized stigma, and a related program tailored for people contending with PTSD.
