Online learning opportunities offered through the Academy for Psychiatric Rehabilitate and Recovery provide you and your colleagues with the perfect opportunity to hear from well-respected experts and receive the tools and resources needed to excel as an individual, a team, and a community, while earning continuing education contact hours.

Our list of online learning opportunities are listed by competency area in an effort to support individuals seeking to obtain a PRA credential or those looking to recertify. Topics will also benefit others in the mental health field including social workers, counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, educators and more. Please use the list below to find topics specific to the area where you are seeking to enhance your own professional knowledgebase.

Interpersonal compentcies: These trainings focus on skills needed to communicate, collaborate, engage and facilitate relationships.
Professional Role: Trainings listed in this category will focus on the knowledge and skill practitioners needs to provide evidence-based and emerging best practices.
Ethics: An important component of ones professional role, trainings in this category will focus specifically on ensuring ethical practice.
Community Integration: These learning opportunities will focus on ensuring that practitioners have the skills needed to assist individuals receiving services in their community of choice.
Assessment, Planning and Outcomes: In order to assist individuals in setting and achieving their goals, practitioners must be able to assess and identify the strengths and interests of thse they service. Courses in this domain will help to ensure success for both the practitioner and the recipient of service.
Strategies for Facilitating Recovery & Resiliency: These training topics will focus on the skills needed to assist individuals in reaching their personal goals. The focus will be on alternative approaches to engagement, outreach techniques and relapse prevention.
Systems Competencies: In order to combat stigma and discrimination, practitioners must have a working knowledge of the systems and services available in their communities. These trainings will focus on advocacy, inclusion and integration for individuals receiving psychiatric rehabilitation services.
Supporting Health and Wellness: The evidence shows that their is a direct connection between physical and mental health. These trainings will go even deeper to focus on the importance of mind, body and spirit connections to assist individuals in developing and sustaining a wellness lifestyle. .
Transition-Age Youth Services:
The transition-age youth population for the purpose of PRA certification is defined as individuals between the ages of 14 - 24 years. Training topics will focus on the unique needs of this population including communication style, child/family dynamics and the transition from children’s to adults mental health systems and services.
